Make simple, flavorful shredded buffalo chicken using your slow cooker. This recipe is perfect for meal prep, sandwiches, or game day snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buffalo wing sauce (your preferred heat level)
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing
  • 1/4 cup water or chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buffalo sauce, ranch or blue cheese dressing, water or broth, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours, or on high for 2 to 3 hours, until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  5. Remove the chicken breasts and shred them using two forks.
  6. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and stir well to coat completely with the sauce.
  7. Cook on the warm setting for 15 minutes to allow the chicken to absorb the flavor.
  8. Serve hot over buns, in wraps, or on salads.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, remove the lid for the last 30 minutes of cooking on high.
  • Use this shredded chicken for buffalo chicken dip or quesadillas.
  • Adjust the amount of buffalo sauce to control the spice level.
