Make this easy dessert by combining sweet apple pie filling with refrigerated cinnamon rolls for a comforting, gooey fusion bake.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling
  • 1 (12.4 ounce) package refrigerated cinnamon rolls (8 rolls total)
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of apple pie filling into the prepared baking dish. Spread it evenly across the bottom.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and ground cinnamon together. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the apple filling. Dot the top of the apples with the small pieces of butter.
  4. Unroll the refrigerated cinnamon rolls. Cut each roll in half crosswise to create two thinner pieces.
  5. Arrange the halved cinnamon roll pieces over the apple filling, leaving small gaps between them. They will expand during baking.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  7. While the bake cools slightly, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl until smooth to create a thin glaze.
  8. Drizzle the glaze over the warm bake before serving.

Notes

  • If you prefer a thicker crust, use the icing packets that come with the cinnamon rolls instead of making your own glaze.
  • For a richer flavor, substitute half of the apple filling with sliced, fresh Granny Smith apples tossed with 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.
  • This dessert is best served warm.
