Make a rich, creamy hot chocolate spiked with bourbon and Irish cream for an indulgent adult beverage.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1.5 ounces bourbon
  • 1.5 ounces Baileys Irish Cream
  • Whipped cream, for topping
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine the milk, heavy cream, chopped chocolate, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir constantly until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and hot, about 5 to 7 minutes. Do not let it boil.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
  4. Stir in the bourbon and Baileys Irish Cream until fully combined.
  5. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs.
  6. Top each serving generously with whipped cream and a sprinkle of chocolate shavings before serving immediately.

Notes

  • For a peppermint variation, substitute the Baileys with peppermint schnapps.
  • You can use semi-sweet chocolate if you prefer a sweeter drink.
  • Warm the mugs slightly before pouring the hot chocolate for better heat retention.
