You can make this homemade peanut sauce in just about 5 minutes. This creamy, flavorful sauce is perfect for dipping vegetables, drizzling over noodles, or using as a salad dressing. Forget store-bought jars; this easy peanut sauce recipe delivers bold, authentic flavor fast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup warm water (or more, for thinning)
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sriracha or chili-garlic sauce (optional, for heat)

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients. You will need a small bowl and a whisk for this quick peanut sauce recipe.
  2. Place the peanut butter, warm water, soy sauce (or tamari), maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, and Sriracha (if using) into the bowl.
  3. Whisk the ingredients together vigorously until the sauce is completely smooth and creamy. This should take about one minute.
  4. If the sauce is too thick for your liking, add more warm water, one teaspoon at a time, whisking until you reach your desired consistency for dipping or drizzling.
  5. Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings if needed. You might want a touch more sweetness or tang.
  6. Use immediately over Buddha bowls, as a peanut dipping sauce for spring rolls, or toss with noodles. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free peanut sauce, make sure you use tamari instead of traditional soy sauce.
  • If you prefer a thinner sauce for dressing salads, increase the warm water slightly. For a thicker sauce perfect for satay skewers, use less water.
  • This recipe is naturally vegan if you use maple syrup instead of honey.
  • The sauce thickens as it cools in the refrigerator. You can thin it out again before serving by whisking in a little warm water or lime juice.
