Ingredients
Scale
2 large Fuji or Honeycrisp apples
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon water
Instructions
Wash and core the apples. Slice them very thinly, about 1/16 inch thick. A mandoline slicer works best for uniform thickness.
In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon together. Set aside.
Place the apple slices in a bowl and lightly mist them with water, or gently toss them with 1 teaspoon of water until just damp. This helps the sugar stick.
Toss the damp apple slices with the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.
Arrange the apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overlap the slices. Work in batches if necessary.
Air fry at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 to 15 minutes.
Flip the apple slices halfway through the cooking time.
Continue cooking until the edges curl slightly and the chips are dry and crisp. Cooking time varies based on air fryer model and apple thickness.
Remove from the air fryer and let the chips cool completely on a wire rack. They will crisp up more as they cool.
Notes
Use apples that hold their shape well, like Fuji or Honeycrisp, for the best texture.
For extra crispness, you can let the coated slices air dry on a rack for 15 minutes before placing them in the air fryer.
Store cooled chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
